Ed Babovec
JMB Aircraft statement regarding Phoenix U15 operations The following pertains to Phoenix U-15's with USA serial numbers 01 - 67. "JMB Aircraft feels it is necessary to clarify that, having taken over the production of the Phoenix U15, we will not look after the airworthiness of the current fleet. The same situation occurred when JMB Aircraft took over production of the VL3. The first 99 were produced by Aveko, but to this day receive great service from us. However, we cannot guarantee the airworthiness of an aircraft which we have not produced. We are happy to maintain supply of spare parts and assist current customers with any issues that they may have, but airworthiness remains the responsibility of the original producer. We have been asked many questions about a recent accident involving a Phoenix aircraft in Europe. The investigation of this accident is ongoing and we will release a statement when the investigation is complete. As part of the investigation response, we have already made some modifications to the new version of the Phoenix. The first production aircraft will fly in the next week or so, and depending on the results, we will make a decision on whether to offer this upgrade to existing customers. If you have any questions regarding this statement, please contact aftersales@jmbaircraft.com."
