Abstract: I am facing a prop overhaul, because of time in service, and I am looking for the prop shop that will do this at best price! I think there was one in Florida but I have mislaid there address. Any input on this would be helpful. Thanks, paul

Paul,
I am also in need of Overhauling my Hoffman prop but in going to the
Hoffman site and contacting the various listed centers a few months ago
I was unable to find anyone that would do the overhaul.
Some did not respond I think, namely the one in Florida if I recall
correctly.
If you can contact one in the USA please let me know so I can send my
prop in as well.
All the addresses are at this site: http://www.hoffmann-prop.com/
however not all these locations are able to overhaul a V60 prop.
Here is the Florida center that did not respond:
Aviation Propellers Inc.
12970 Port Said Road
Opa Locka, Fl 33054

Fax: 305 681 4236

I had a lot of trouble with the guys in Florida if it's the shop you
are referring to. Fist they lost the prop and the replacement was
damaged.

I just had my Hoffmann prop overhauled at American Propeller Service in Redding, CA. They did a great job and were extremely nice people to deal with. I did not comparison shop on price so I do not know how their price compares with other shops.

Ray,
I talked to Todd Marinkovich at American Propeller Service. I sent my prop in at the beginning of August.
I checked the FAA registry and it does show that I have the 1700 engine. However, I definitely have the 2000 engine installed. It is not the original engine, it was changed at 33 hours by Grob Systems in Bluffton, Ohio.

Dick,
When I inquired with them, a few months ago via email they said they do
not do overhauls on Hoffman props.
Who did you talk to there? I am obviously dealing with the wrong
person.
I was wondering what size engine your Grob has?
According to the FAA registry database it has a Limbach 1700? True?
Just wondering what sort of rate of climb rate you get on that engine?
And for some reason it is the only one listing a known engine as
opposed to the "expr/unknown" engine type for all the others.

Paul,
The prop was overhauled by American Propeller Service which is located in Redding, California.
The prop after the overhaul looks brand new.

I know another guy who was ferrying a Dimona H36 and also had trouble
with them when what they sent back was substandard.
I hope that is not typical.
I suspect they put their trainies on the small Hoffman props as
screwing up a big boys prop would be a costly disaster for them.
However they seem to be the only game in town in the USA for Hoffman
props so......
