Anyone have the measurements for a fuel measuring stick? This is the
stick (like a dowel) that you put in the tank and read the actual fuel
level (preferably in gallons, but liters would work too). I (like most
pilots I would assume) am leery of believing fuel gauges.

BTW, I'm writing from Des Moines after a very pleasant flight in 20822
from Canon City, CO. One small inconvenience.. Grand Island, Nebraska
(KGRI) terminal restaurant was CLOSED on the weekend. I guess flight
planning in the future means calling and verifying there is food or
settling for day old bagels for dinner !

Don't have the cost for the German import.. Hard to believe it's going to be cheaper than $.75 dowel & indelible marker. Did I tell you that I used retirement savings to buy this airplane?

No, but a great way to retire.  I also have a DG 500 but had to commute so far to fly I just didn’t, is now a rental first at Great Western and now at Sailplane Enterprises.  So got the Taifun in anticipation of retiring one day, as a glider and very economical commuter.  My instructor ( I need some power pilot upgrades ) owns a 172 Skyhawk and is still in amazement at the performance as both a powered and glider aircraft. He’s been tracking fuel 3 gph vs his 8 gph.  And why hasn’t someone put these back in production???   John Neel in Salt Lake is looking at a version like your 17EII but with winglets, a carbon fiber wing, different airfoil and 125 hp.
